The First TMS Summit on Creating and Sustaining Diversity in the Minerals, Metals, and Materials Professions 1 (DMMM1), took place July 29–31, 2014 at the National Academy of Sciences Building in Washington, D.C. to honor those who have broken new ground for the rest of us, and to equip those who will take us to new heights in the future.
More than just a meeting to discuss issues related to diversity, DMMM1 provided attendees with practical skills and actionable strategies for creating a culture of inclusion in the workplace. Interactive workshop sessions, tailored to the needs of professionals at different phases of their careers, gave attendees the opportunity to contribute ideas and perspectives that will shape DMMM1’s final report and a diversity toolkit.
